Fort Mill sweeps Nation Ford in cross-country
The Fort Mill cross-country team swept rivals Nation Ford recently during a meet at the Anne Springs Close Greenway.
The Lady Jackets won 28-31, despite Nation Ford’s Marlena Schwinhorst getting the win.
Official times weren’t kept due to a malfunction in the timer for both the boys’ and girls’ races.
Fort Mill’s Abigail Dawson finished second in the race with Nation Ford’s Anna Hardymon and Katie Fou coming in third and fourth.
The Lady Jackets’ Mia Zimmerman and Helen Scholten came in fifth and sixth, respectively, as Fort Mill was able to get the win taking places five through 10 in the race.
Coming in seventh for Fort Mill was Mia Davis and finishing out the scoring for the Lady Jackets was eighth place finisher Ania Rzepka.
In the boys’ race, Fort Mill’s Cameron Smith won the event with teammate Zach Brugh coming in a close second. Fort Mill won the race edging Nation Ford 26-29.
Nation Ford’s Malcolm McClain and Cleve Fisher were third and fourth, respectively, followed by the Jackets’ Will Barradale in fifth place.
The Falcons’ Tim Tom was sixth and and Cutler Arbon seventh and Nick Kilbarger came in eighth for Fort Mill.
In ninth was Thomas Windell for Nation Ford while Tucker Little came in 10th for the Jackets to round out their scoring.
Coming up for both schools is the York County meet set for this Saturday in York and then the Region III-4A meet set for Oct. 22 at Northwestern High School.
