Kemp sets record for Nation Ford
The Nation Ford Lady Falcons volleyball team got two more Region III wins recently, beating Northwestern 3-1 and York 3-0. Against York, the Lady Falcons won 25-11, 25-16, 25-21. And against Northwestern, the team won 14-25, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-16. Jessica Kemp led the way with a double-double with 19 kills and 15 digs and recorded her 1,000 kill setting a school record for kills.
Nation Ford also finished in the runner-up spot at the Wando Invitational during the weekend going 6-2 and losing to the host team in the finals. The team went 5-1 during pool play and then beat Bishop England in the semi-finals before taking on Wando in the finals.
Fort Mill shuts out York
The Fort Mill Lady Jackets volleyball team shutout York 3-0 winning 25-13, 25-21 and 25-8. Payton Carter led with 17 kills and Brooke Farley has 32 assists.
Fort Mill improved to 10-1 in Region III play and are 14-1 overall.
Fort Mill tennis team wins
The Fort Mill Lady Jackets tennis team improved to 14-1 with a 6-0 win over York. No. 1 singles Elizabeth Fitzgerald led winning 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 singles Rachel Brooks won 6-0, 6-1 and No. 3 singles Shreya Katti won 6-0, 6-0. No. 4 singles Reagan Paff and No. 5 singles Ellie Prain both won 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets as well. Jessica Brewer and Abigail Thibodeau teamed to win 6-1, 6-2 in doubles.
Nation Ford wins 3 region tennis matches
The Nation Ford Lady Falcons tennis team won three Region III matches recently beating Northwestern, Gaffney and York. Against the Lady Trojans, Nation Ford won 4-2 with wins coming from No. 1 Jordan Sawyer 6-1, 6-2; No. 2 Darby Trull 6-1, 6-2; No. 3 Megan Gallagher 6-1, 6-0; and No. 2 doubles Meredith Blumenfeld and Rachel Denney 7-6, 3-6, 10-5.
Against Gaffney, Nation Ford won 5-1 with Sawyler, Trull, Gallagher all getting wins in singles play along with Cassidy Ford 6-2, 6-0 and Garcey Rowan 6-0, 6-3.
Against York, Nation Ford won 6-0 with Sawyer, Trull, Gallagher, Ford and Rowan all getting wins in singles play and Blumenfeld and Denney winning in doubles.

USTA event continues
The seventh annual Rock Hill Rocks Open professional women’s tennis tournament will be held all week, ending Oct. 18 at the tennis center, 897 Maple Lane, Rock Hill. This is a $25,000 United States Tennis Association Pro Circuit event.
The matches feature women tennis players from around the world, some ranked within the top 150 competitors in singles and doubles. The players compete for prize money and ranking points. Outdoor hard-court matches are held during the day and are free for the public to watch.
