Golf season ends for Fort Mill, Nation Ford

Both Fort Mill and Nation Ford’s girls’ golf seasons came to an end Friday as neither one qualified for the Upper State golf tournament in Simpsonville later this month.
Gaffney, Clover, Northwestern and York were the qualifiers out of the Region III-4A tournament held at the par 72 River Hill Country Club in Lake Wylie. The tournament consisted of 18-holes Friday.
The teams went off in two flights with Fort Mill, Gaffney, Northwestern and Clover playing the first flight, while Nation Ford, York and Rock Hill played the second flight. Fort Mill finished fifth, while Nation Ford finished sixth in the tournament.
Fort Mill shot a 448 as a team and was led by Amelia Majcina’s 100. Her score was followed by a 111 from Alexia Van Zanten and a 115 from Devin Sallenger. Ashley Babinchak finished the scoring for the Lady Jackets with a 122.
Nation Ford shot a 455 as a team and was led by Cameron Levosky’s 102. Her score was followed by a 108 from Zoe Bowers and a 121 from Logan James. Lauranne Longley rounded out the scoring for Nation Ford with a 124.
Earlier in the week, both Fort Mill and Nation Ford played Clover at River Hills as a tune up for the Region III championship. Clover won the three-way match with a team score of 203.
Nation Ford shot a 221 as a team with Bowers leading with a round of 52. She was followed by a 55 from Levosky, while James and Faith Portello each shot a 57 for the Lady Falcons.
Fort Mill shot a 227 in the three-way match with Sallenger leading with a 54. Majcina followed with a 56 and Babinchak had a 58, while Maci Wylie had a 59 to finish the scoring.
