The 2015 girls’ tennis playoffs start this week with Fort Mill opening the first round at home while Nation Ford hits the road.

The Lady Jackets’ second place finish in Region III only guarantees the first round match at home.

Fort Mill will open the first round against Laurens after finishing the regular season 15-2. The draw this year for Fort Mill is an easier in the opening round than in years past, said head coach Angela Struve.

“We had Region II the last three years and will probably play them in the second round,” she said.

If Fort Mill can get past Laurens, the team will go to Boiling Springs, which plays an at-large seed in JL Mann in the first round.

“We have confidence and hope to get through the first round,” Struve said. “Boiling Springs is supposed to be phenomenal. That will be tough.”

Nation Ford has a tough first round opponent in Greenville as they have to make the two hour trip across I-85 for the match.

The Lady Falcons finished 8-5 in the regular season and third in Region III. However, head coach Wendy Sharp is confident.

“My girls are playing great now,” she said. “We have met expectations, had fun and did well this year.”
