Nation Ford wins three-way golf match

The Nation Ford Falcons boys’ golf team heads into two tournaments this week after winning a three-way home match against Lancaster and rival Fort Mill.

The Falcons will be teeing things up in the Bengal Invitational in Blythewood April 11-12 and then in the Fleischer Invitational in Rock Hill April 15-16.

In the three-way match, Nation Ford shot a 167, besting Lancaster by two strokes and Fort Mill by six in the home match at Springfield Golf Club. The Falcons were led by Nolan Wood’s round of 38, good enough to capture the medalist title. Jake Norwood shot a 42 and Grant Bridges shot a 43 for Nation Ford. Reed Strawhorn finished the round for the Falcons with a 44.

Fort Mill was led by Mike Wheeler’s round of 40 and Ryan Seco’s 41. Carter Copeland shot a 45 for the Jackets and Dalton Vickers and Thomas Hart each had a round of 47 for Fort Mill.

Later in the week, Nation Ford lost a close match at home to Clover 170-176. The Falcons were led by Bridges’ round of 42. Strawhorn shot a 44 for Nation Ford and four Falcons golfers – Wood, Norwood, David King and Jackson Bridges – shot rounds of 45.

Fort Mill also played a second match, beating York at Fort Mill Golf Club 168-169. The Jackets were led by two rounds of 40 from Seco and Cam Marshall. Wheeler shot a 42 and Tyler Patterson finished the scoring for Fort Mill with a 46.

Like their rivals, Fort Mill will also be playing in the Bengal Invitational and Fleischer Invitational this week before hosting its last home match against Northwestern April 18.
