Nation Ford High’s tennis team wins 2 straight
The Nation Ford Falcons boys’ tennis program picked up two key wins this week against Region III-4A opponents.
Nation Ford beat Clover and Fort Mill by identical 5-1 scores and the wins pushed the Falcons’ record to 5-2.
Against Fort Mill, Nation Ford dropped just the No. 1 singles match, as the Jackets’ Aporva Mehta beat Alex Smith 6-4, 6-1.
In No. 2 singles, Nation Ford’s Max Kell beat Sahil Mashih 6-2, 6-4 and in No. 3 singles the Falcons’ Rahul Hassani beat Max Sanford 6-0, 7-5.
Nation Ford’s Thomas Welch beat Graham Lancaster 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Ajay Hassani beat Zach Dodson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
In the only doubles match, Sanjeev Hassani and Riley Jordan of Nation Ford teamed to beat Trey Robertson and Josh Hall 6-4, 6-1.
Earlier in the week against Clover, the only line Nation Ford lost was at No. 1 singles. In No. 2 singles Raj Dwvedi won 6-1, 6-1 and Smith won 6-0, 6-4 in No. 3 singles.
Rahul Hassani won in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 12-10 at No. 4 singles and Kell won at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-2. In No. 2 doubles, Welch and Ajay Hassani teamed to win 6-2, 6-2.
Fort Mill fell earlier in the week to Clover 5-1 with the only win coming from the Jackets being in the No. 5 singles as Dodson won 6-3, 6-0.
