Nation Ford dispatches visiting Greenville in soccer playoffs

The Nation Ford High School boys’ soccer team cruised to a first-round playoff win 7-0 over Greenville Tuesday night.

The host Falcons led 4-0 with 12:30 left in the first half as Kevin Garces nailed down the early hat trick. Hank Tuipulotu, Isaiah McDonald, Mike Smith and Dan Torre all also scored goals for Nation Ford.

Greenville appeared to get on the board in the second half to cut the Falcons’ lead to 6-1 with 17:30 left, but Greenville was carded for 12 men on the field, negating the goal.

Nation Ford is ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 20 nationally in this week’s USA Today poll.

The Falcons remain at home for round two Thursday versus J.L. Mann.
