Tega Cay makes it 8 straight Metrolina swim championships

The Tega Cay Breakers claimed their eighth straight Metrolina Swim Championship in easy fashion beating second place Rock Hill Country Club by 318 points.

Tega Cay scored 683 points compared to Rock Hill’s 365.5 in the championship meet. The Breakers had nearly identical scores from both their boys’ and girls’ teams as the girls scored 342 points and the boys had 341.

Despite winning just one of the eight relay events, the Breakers won 19 of 52 individual events. Those individual winners were:

Aubrey Chandler – girls’ 13-14 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard butterfly

Colin Maloney – boys’ 6 and under 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke

Olivia Corbi – girls’ 9-10 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke

Kelsey Holloway – girls’ 15-18 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard butterfly

Joe Orehek – boys’ 13-15 50-yard freestyle

Kasparas Zilinskas – boys’ 15-18 50-yard freestyle

Bristol Glenn – girls’ 6 and under 25-yard backstroke

Zachary Minnich – boys’ 9-10 25-yard backstroke

Margaret Margeson – girls’ 11-12 50-yard backstroke

Megan Cessna – girls’ 15-18 50-yard backstroke

Kylie Bick – girls’ 10 and under 100-yard individual medley

Skylar Bernesser – girls’ 13-14 50-yard breaststroke

Katie Whittaker – girls’ 9-10 25-yard butterfly

Griffin Dunn – boys’ 11-12 50-yard butterfly

Tega Cay also dominated the Metrolina Invitational meet Saturday winning by 456 points. The Breakers scored 754 points compared to its closest competition in Rock Hill with 298 points.

The Breakers won seven of the eight relay events and 31 of 52 individual events. Individual winners for Tega Cay during the Invitational were:

Owen Ford – boys’ 13-14 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard butterfly
