Lady Falcons split matches, host Northwestern
The Nation Ford Falcons girls’ golf team split matches last week, getting a win on the road, while falling at home.
Nation Ford beat Northwestern at Waterford Golf Club 208-213, but then turned around the next day and lost to York at their home course of Springfield Golf Club 186-214.
The Falcons were led by freshman Zoe Bowers in both matches. Bowers shot a 44 against Northwestern. Her score was followed with a 49 from eighth-grader Felicity Shackleford and rounds of 55 from senior Logan James and 60 from sophomore Amber Bellamy.
A hot and humid day, combined with the rolling hills of Springfield got to Nation Ford the next day against York.
Bowers shot a 42 to lead Nation Ford and was followed with a 54 from Shackleford and then a 55 from James. Bellamy finished the scoring for Nation Ford with a 63.
Coming up for the Falcons is just one match this week, a rematch against Northwestern at home, before heading to Fort Mill Golf Club next week and hosting Clover at home.
