Man accused of exposing himself to housekeeper at Fort Mill hotel

A housekeeper at a Fort Mill hotel cried and shook as she told deputies that she “froze in place with fear” as a North Carolina man wearing only a T-shirt and boxer shorts exposed himself to her several times earlier this week, authorities said.

At about 11 a.m. Monday, an employee at the Clarion hotel on Carowinds Boulevard told deputies that as she cleaned furniture on the eighth floor, a man wearing red shorts and a plain T-shirt approached her with his privates exposed, according to a York County Sheriff’s report. The woman, 35, explained that she acted like she did not see him and continued vacuuming the carpet. She thought that the exposure might have been an accident.

The man, later identified as Rashawn Henderson, of Huntersville, N.C., walked by her and stepped into a nearby staircase, the report states. He opened the staircase door and went back to the eighth floor wearing only his boxer shorts. Henderson, she told deputies, walked up and down the hallway. Crying and shaking during the interview with deputies, the woman reported that she called down to the front desk asking for help. Henderson, 30, passed her about four or five times, still exposed, as she waited for the general manager to arrive. Her co-workers tried calming her down.

Deputies found Henderson on a lower floor of the hotel, the report states. Henderson told deputies he was walking the halls because he could not sleep. Authorities realized Henderson did not have a room at the hotel and arrested him, charging him with indecent exposure.

Henderson told police he threw his clothes away in a large dumpster and claimed his wife had his car keys. Deputies found Henderson’s car with the windows down, the keys inside, a pair of red shorts in the car and an opened pornographic magazine in the passenger’s floorboard.

He was released from jail Monday on a $5,000 bond.
