York woman breaks up fight by throwing bleach
When York police responded to the scene of a disturbance this week, they found a man complaining that bleach had been thrown in his eyes.
A fight broke out Tuesday night when a 22-year-old man on Travora Circle reportedly yelled at another man for walking through his yard. The 22-year-old told police the man rushed him, so he struck the man with his fist and then chased him, with a 17-year-old man and two women, ages 22 and 18, accompanying the 22-year-old.
Reports say they caught up with the man in front of another home on the block and began attacking him. When a 29-year-old man came out of his house to try to break up the fight, the crowd reportedly turned on him as well, and knocked his wife to the ground. Another woman at the house then took a bottle of bleach and threw it at the mob.
When police arrived, both the 17-year-old man and 18-year-old woman complained of having bleach in their eyes, although the police report notes that the woman’s action “did cause the fight to stop.”
Both of the assailants who were not hit with bleach were charged with public disorderly conduct, as were the other two after being transported to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment. None of the other parties wanted to press charges for assault, and the bleach-thrower was not charged because she was “coming to the aid of a third person being assaulted.”
