Woman bites Rock Hill police officer at jail

A female jail inmate bit a Rock Hill police officer Monday morning as officers were trying to assist her in taking medication, according to a police report.

The woman, who had been booked into the city jail Sunday morning on a charge of driving under the influence, bit the officer on the finger after she refused to re-enter her cell, police said. She also threw water on the officer and spit on him and a jail officer.

Officers placed the woman in a restraint chair with a “spit hood” over her head, the report states, before she was taken by ambulance for mental evaluation.

Because of the “altered mental status” of the woman, police said, no assault charges were filed for the attack on the officer.
