Two men robbed in Rock Hill in unrelated incidents, police say
Two armed robberies occured early Tuesday within minutes of each other in Rock Hill, police say.
Police do not believe the incidents are related, said Capt. Mark Bollinger, public information officer for the Rock Hill Police Department.
A man was shot and robbed at the intersection of State Street and Carolina Avenue in Rock Hill, according to a police report.
At 12:56 a.m. Tuesday, Rock Hill police responded to the intersection in reference to a shooting, the report states. Officers found a man lying on the ground.
Another man told police he heard a gun shot around 12:33 a.m. and later saw the hurt man leaning against a tree, the report says. The hurt man told police he had been shot.
The hurt man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, the report states. The man kept looking for his wallet, and told police someone had tried to take it, the report says.
Emergency Medical Services treated the man, who had what looked to be a gun shot wound, the report says. Officers found a shell casing off State Street, but did not locate any suspects, the report states.
In a separate incident, a man was robbed around 1 a.m. Tuesday at Mallard Pointe Apartments in Rock Hill, a report states.
Officers responded to the apartment complex in reference to an assault. The victim told police he was visiting a friend, and that he walked out to his car around 12:45 a.m., the report states.
The man told police three suspects came up to him and asked him for a cigarette, to which he replied he did not have one, the report says. The man told police the suspects then “jumped him and took his backpack,” the report states.
The man told police he tried to fight back and got hit in the head, the report says. The man told police the suspects ran off in an unknown direction.
No other information, including a description of the suspects, was on either report. Both cases remain active.
