York woman says man who rang doorbell following her

A woman told York police she was being followed by a man who rang her doorbell and ran away.

She said a gray or silver car pulled up to her home on Victoria Circle at 3 a.m. Sunday, March 15. A man she didn’t recognize got out and rang her doorbell, then ran back to the car and drove away. She told police she saw the car through her window pull around the circle before driving away toward East Liberty Street.

On at least two other occasions in the past week, the woman said the same vehicle had been following her. The previous Tuesday, she noticed the car following hers as she was driving her daughter to school. On another day, she noticed the vehicle following her in the Walmart parking lot. She watched as the car followed her to Lowe’s, and then as she drove home.

She said she pulled over when she reached her street to try to get a good look at the man’s face, but he deliberately turned his head away as he went past.

Police told her the home would be placed on a list for regular property checks.
