Man wanted on armed robbery charge arrested in Rock Hill
A South Carolina man wanted since August in connection with an armed robbery during a drug deal gone wrong in Horry County was arrested in Rock Hill on Thursday, accused of possessing marijuana.
Police records show that Larry Tranell Carter, 20, of Georgetown, was arrested on Green Street around 6 p.m. after Rock Hill officers suspected drug use inside a car. As officers approached the parked car, a woman inside threw a marijuana cigarette out of the window, officers say.
Carter was inside the car and smelled like marijuana, according to a police report. During a search, officers say they found Carter with a weighing scale and eight grams of marijuana.
A report from the Horry County Police Department shows that Carter is wanted in connection with a drug deal that ended with a 17-year-old man being beaten and robbed at gunpoint. In that incident, Carter is accused of dragging the victim out of his truck after the man complained about the amount of marijuana he had received during a purchase.
Horry County police say Carter was identified by the victim and another man who was part of the drug deal. The incident report accuses Carter of hitting and kicking the man after throwing him to the ground. The report also states that Carter pointed a handgun at the 17-year-old, demanded money and struck him with the gun.
A 21-year-old man from Loris was arrested shortly after the Aug. 24 incident in Horry County. Rock Hill police records show that officers discovered that Carter was wanted after he was taken to the city jail on Thursday night.
