York man charged with box-cutter assault
A York man was arrested on assault charges this week after he reportedly stabbed a man with a box-cutter.
Dontavias Jontwan Dixon, 22, was charged with second-degree assault and battery over the incident, according to a York police report.
York police were called to the 100 block of Autumn Place around 4 a.m. Sunday, March 22, where they found an 18-year-old bleeding from a 6-inch gash in the side of his torso. The young man told police he was standing outside smoking a cigarette when an unknown man pulled up in an SUV and began “hollering and screaming” at him.
He said the man ran up to him and struck him with a silver box-cutter. The victim told police he thought he had only been punched until he saw he was bleeding. EMS responded to the scene and transported the young man to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment of an 1-inch-deep cut to the man’s abdomen.
Witnesses said the attacker drove away in the SUV at a high-rate of speed. Police stopped a Ford Explorer a short time later on Watts Street and took Dixon into custody.
The victim told police he didn’t know who Dixon was or why he attacked him.
