Rock Hill police called after boy, 12, throws rock at car

A 12-year-old boy is in trouble after he allegedly threw a rock at the windshield of a passing car.

A 48-year-old woman was driving on the 300 block of East Black Street when she saw four children playing. As she passed the kids, one of them threw a rock at her car, hitting the windshield, causing $200 in damage. They then ran away, a police report states.

The woman called police. She was then able to find and detain the children until the officer arrived.

The other children identified the 12-year-old boy as the one who threw the rock. The officer took all four children to the boy’s home, where they were staying, and spoke with his mother.

The boy’s mother and the victim agreed not to press charges and to handle the issue among themselves.
