Lancaster County pedestrian killed in hit-and-run early Saturday, highway patrol say

A Lancaster man was left dead in a hit-and-run collision early Saturday morning, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as 36-year-old Chad Russell Hill of Lancaster.

Corp. Bill Rhyne of the SC Highway Patrol said Hill was walking on S.C. Highway 265 near Taxahaw Road when he was hit.

Hill was walking in the roadway at about 5:45 a.m. when he was struck by a car traveling east, Rhyne said.

Nothing is known about the vehicle, Rhyne said.

Hill died at the scene, 2.2 miles west of the town of Jefferson, Rhyne said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Jennifer Collins said.
