Police: Rock Hill man shot during fight with older brother
A Rock Hill man was charged with high and aggravated assault and battery this week after pulling a gun on his brother during a fight and apparently accidentally shooting him in the shoulder, police say.
Officers arrested Jay Shealy, age 40, on Sunday, according to Rock Hill police records. His brother, officers say, was treated at Piedmont Medical Center for the gunshot wound.
The brothers were fighting at a home on Poe Street in Rock Hill on Easter Sunday morning and began wrestling after Jay Shealy pulled out a gun, according to the police incident report. The younger brother, age 30, was wounded and called his mother to take him to the hospital, the report states.
Police say Jay Shealy admitted to fighting with his brother and said the younger brother shoved him and punched him in the nose. He told officers that he pulled the gun out and told his brother to leave him alone, the report states. According to police, the two brothers were wrestling over the gun when the weapon fired.
