Rock Hill man called 911 while intoxicated, say police

A Rock Hill man was arrested Wednesday after police say he repeatedly called 911 while intoxicated.

Police were initially called to a home on the 500 block of Clarinda Street at 12:40 a.m. after the 62-year-old man dialed 911 to complain that his girlfriend was refusing to leave the residence. An officer responded to the home and told the man he would have to follow the eviction process to remove his girlfriend and was warned not to use 911 for non-emergency purposes, according to the officer’s report.

But a short time later, the man called again. This time, dispatchers say he was too intoxicated to tell officers what his problem was, but once the officer arrived back at the scene, he repeated that he wanted his girlfriend removed from the house.

The officer notes the man was “unable to recall things officers told him.”

He was ultimately arrested and taken to the Rock Hill city jail on charges of unlawful use of a telephone.
