4 arrested for disorderly conduct after planning to fight in Rock Hill over Facebook post
Four people are facing disorderly conduct charges after a post on Facebook escalated into a confrontation outside a home on North Confederate Avenue on Tuesday night, according to a Rock Hill police report.
Police went to the house around 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a car repeatedly driving by. When officers arrived, they say they found several people yelling in the road in front of the home.
After speaking with those involved, officers learned that a 21-year-old woman at the home had posted a comment on Facebook accusing a 17-year-old woman of slashing her brother’s tires. The older woman tagged the younger girl in the post to be sure she saw it, the police report states.
Officers say the social media post started an argument online.
One officer was shown an exchange where the 17-year-old and a 20-year-old friend offered to fight the woman in Confederate Park. She replied by sending her address and offering to fight the women at her home, police say.
While the women and others were driving to the home for the fight, a 26-year-old woman reportedly stood in front of the car in the roadway and banged on the hood, leaving handprints, according to police.
Officers spoke to the mother of the woman who made the Facebook post. She told officers that she called police to stop the women from getting into a fight in front of the home.
Police say all four women admitted they met at the home on Tuesday, planning to fight. They were arrested for public disorderly conduct, according to police records.
When officers removed the 26-year-old woman’s car from the road, they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and officers removed two baggies from the center console and door handle, the incident report states. The driver was then also charged with possession of marijuana.
