Police: Clover woman arrested for hindering police

A Clover woman was charged with hindering police this week after she allegedly told police she had a gunthat would keep them from breaking down a beddoor to arrest a wanted man, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

In the Wednesday morning incident, the son of Patricia Bortner, 51, told police he wanted an escort home because his mother would not let him in. Police also had an active Family Court bench warrant against Seth McDonald, 21, who also lives at the Flagsworth Road address, the report stated.

Patricia Bortner told deputies that McDonald was upstairs.

McDonald told deputies he knew there was a warrant, but asked the police to pretend “we didn’t see him,” according to the report.

McDonald then shut himself in his room, police said. Deputies told Bortner twice that if McDonald did not open the door she would be buying a new door, the report said.

Bortner then put herself between the door and police and allegedly told officers, “I have a gun in there – pointing to her bedroom – that says you aren’t going to damage my house.”

Deputies then charged her with hindering an officer, and served the bench warrant on McDonald, the report states.
