The Herald has learned the disposition of the murder charge against a suspect in a hit-and-run case that sent two children to the hospital. A state murder indictment in a gang-related shooting is still pending against Montell DeAngelo Cousar and he is due in a Chester, SC, courtroom next month.

When the crash story was initially published Tuesday, the final disposition of a 2012 murder charge against Cousar and a co-defendant in the 2009 shooting death of Eddie Hall was unclear. An indictment was issued by a state grand jury after the State Law Enforcement Division joined a multi-agency gang taskforce with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office. The S.C. Attorney General’s Office is handling the prosecution.

At the time, Cousar was issued a $200,000 bond. He is now being held without bond on the hit-and-run charge at the York County Detention Center.

Cousar and co-defendant Keith R. Keener are due in court at the Chester County Courthouse the week of May 18 before Judge William H. Seals Jr. of Marion County.
