Owners offer $1K reward for information in Lancaster horse shooting

Lancaster County horse owners are offering a reward to anyone with information after they found their horse shot in the head.

The owners found their horse, Boss, dead Nov. 18 in their pasture on Old Church Road from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office statement.

The owners had surveillance video on the field, which show Boss was shot around 3 a.m. and that he “went down the last time” around 8 a.m.

“We want to help the owners find out what happened to Boss, and hold the person who did this accountable,” Sheriff Barry Faile said. “We hope someone saw or heard something that night, or has heard talk in the community, and encourage anyone with information about this to contact us.”

A vehicle pulling a trailer with distint reflective tape on the side passed the property three times that night, the statement says.

The surveillance video also shows a light moving across the pasture just after 5:30 a.m., which could have been someone with a flashlight, the statemtn says.

Anyone with information should call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388 or call Midlands Crimestoppers at 888-274-6372.
