Several fights broke out a party Friday night, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage to the inside of the American Legion building in Rock Hill, according to police.

Officers were called to the facility on Heckle Boulevard just before midnight. When police arrived, the building was emptying and the party had been shut down, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

American Legion representatives told The Herald that there were also security officers on premises for the private event. The American Legion moved into the new space on Heckle Boulevard last month. The Legion rents facility as a way to make money for local charities.

The 72-year-old complainant said several people — both men and women — were fighting on Friday when they damaged the facility. The suspects listed on the incident report were from Moncks Corner, Charlotte and Concord, N.C., and they ranged in age from 18- to 22-years-old.

No arrests were made.
