Clover police arrest 2nd suspect in payday loan armed robbery
Police in Clover have arrested a second suspect accused of the armed robbery of a check cashing business in Clover earlier this month.
Detectives charged a Gastonia, N.C. man the day after the crime, and on Tuesday charged Antonio Javar Williams, 29, of York with armed robbery and conspiracy. The Gastonia man, James Arthur Thomason Jr., 30, faces several charges including armed robbery, conspiracy, and weapons charges.
On April 13, a gunman later identified as Thomason entered the Approved Cash Payday Loans building on Bethel Street and demanded money. One customer and an employee was inside the business at the time of the robbery, according to police.
The employee complied, and the robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Williams is believed to have been the getaway driver.
The suspect vehicle — a white Chevy Tahoe — has also been located by police.
Both men are being held without bond.
