Lancaster hospital placed on temporary lock down late Thursday after man shot

Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster County was placed on lock down late Thursday after a 26-year-old man was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Spokesman for the sheriff’s office Doug Barfield said the man was brought to the hospital just after 10 p.m. and deputies were called to the hospital.

The man’s injuries were non-fatal, Barfield said.

The victim wasn’t able to give deputies much information on the shooting and was transferred to another hospital, Barfield said.

Barfield said the shooting happened in the Memorial Park Road area, but deputies don’t have an exact location.

Barfield said the hospital was placed on lock down by hospital security for a period of time to “maintain order and security.” He said following lock down protocol is common in shooting incidents.

Springs Memorial Hospital could not be reached for comment immediately.

No one has been arrested in this case.
