A Rock Hill duo was arrested Wednesday night after police found them with marijuana and scales in a car with a 5-month-old baby, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The mother, Elexis Kennedy, 21, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and Nathaniel Campbell III, 22, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and possession of marijuana.

A third person ran away from the police, the report says.

Police approached the three after noticing the car, a tan Honda Accord, was illegally parked on Sunset Drive just after 7:30 p.m., the report says.

Police said the driver, Kennedy, took her 5-month-old son out of his car seat when police approached, the report says.

Police could smell marijuana and could see marijuana throughout the car, the report says.

The report does not say the three were actively smoking the marijuana.

The two men sitting in the back seat ran, and one escaped, the report says.

Officers found a digital scale dropped by the fleeing man, the report says.

Police say there also was marijuana all around the child’s car seat. The marijuana seized from the car was about 1.03 grams, the report says.

Warrants have been issued for the third man, but no arrests have been made.
