Rock Hill woman charged with filing false police report on boyfriend, brother

A Rock Hill woman has been charged with filing a false police report after she recanted a story that led to her boyfriend and his brother being arrested and charged with multiple felonies.

As of Wednesday, those charges were still pending against Derrick and Shawn Durham, although the 16th Circuit solicitor’s office is reviewing the case after Rock Hill police arrested Brittany Nicole Singleton on Tuesday.

On March 30, Singleton, 24, told police the Durham brothers threatened her with a firearm at her Chestnut Street home. She initially claimed both Derrick, her boyfriend, and Shawn came to her home around 3 p.m. and both drew handguns during an argument, during which Derrick Durham also reportedly slapped her in the face.

Both brothers were arrested the next day and charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, and unlawfully carrying a pistol. Shawn Durham was additionally charged with possession of a pistol by someone with a prior conviction for violent crime.

On Tuesday, Singleton went to Rock Hill police and told investigators she made the story up because she was angry at Derrick Durham. Due to the serious nature of the charges against the Durhams, Singleton was then arrested and charged with filing a false police report.
