More Rock Hill hotel lots targeted by smash & grab thieves
More cars have been broken into at Rock Hill hotels.
At 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Rock Hill police were called to the Super 8 Motel on Riverview Road where a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado had his driver’s side window smashed, causing damage estimated at $150. While on scene, police found two other vehicles had also been entered; an unlocked 2011 GMC Sierra and a 2008 Ford Expedition that also had the driver’s side window broken, also estimated at $150 in damages. Nothing was reported stolen from any of the vehicles.
Earlier, police were called to the Ramada Inn on Cherry Road around 5:40 a.m. The passenger side window of a 2008 Silverado was reportedly smashed, and a laptop computer and GPS stolen from inside. The stolen items are valued at $300, and the damage is estimated at $400.
The latest auto break-ins occurred in the same area where four other vehicles were broken into between Monday and Wednesday. All the break-ins targeted trucks and SUVs at hotels and motels near Interstate 77 within Rock Hill.
Rock Hill police said Wednesday they do believe the break-ins are the work of the same individual or individuals.
