York County authorities are investigating a hit-and-run and Interstate 77 drive-by shooting from Tuesday night. The incident happened in the southbound lanes of I-77 in Fort Mill, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies say an unidentified male driving an SUV hit another car, then a passenger in the SUV shot at least three times at the victim’s vehicle. Investigators pulled a mangled bullet out of the damaged car.
The victim told police she was on I-77, between Sutton Road and the Catawba River bridge, around 7 p.m., when the SUV hit the rental car she was driving. A sheriff’s office incident report states that a man and a child were also in the car.
Deputies estimate the hit-and-run and shooting caused about $2,000 in damage to the rental car. No arrests have been made, sheriff’s office officials said Friday.
