Vandal damages Rock Hill church field with reckless driving

Someone damaged a field at a Rock Hill church by driving recklessly around the grass, intentionally causing ruts in the ground.

The vandalism at Friendship United Methodist Church on Neely Store Road was reported to the York County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.

A witness said he saw a black F250 pickup drive around the field recklessly at about 3:15 a.m., according to a sheriff’s office report.

Deputies noticed much of the grass around the field was dug up.

The suspect is unknown. Officials will continue to investigate the case as “malicious injury to a place of worship.”
