A Rock Hill woman was charged with breach of trust after she tried to take two bags of clothing from the store in which she worked and threw them under her vehicle when she saw the store manager, according to Rock Hill Police.

The manager of the Big Deal Discount Store on Cherry Road was returning to the store from the bank Tuesday when she saw Darla Lee Augello, 50, walking out of the store with two bags of clothing, according to a police report. Augello was walking to her car, but when she saw the manager, she threw the bags under her car and went back into the store.

Augello “reluctantly” complied when the manager asked her to come back outside, police said. The manager retrieved the bags of clothing and asked Augello for a receipt. Augello handed a receipt to the manager, who noticed it was not for the correct amount and had a different name and signature on the charge slip.

Augello was arrested and taken to the Rock Hill city jail, where she was released Wednesday morning on a personal recognizance bond. She had about $100 in merchandise in the bags, which was returned to the store.
