Rock Hill girl, 12, charged with assault after school fight

A 12-year-old Rock Hill girl was charged with assault after a fight in a school hallway.

Police were called to Dutchman Creek Middle School on Tuesday after a fight between two girls. Surveillance footage shows the girl grab the victim by the hair in the hallway and drag her to the ground, then start punching her, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

When questioned, the girl told officers the other student had been picking on her all year, but she hadn’t reported the bullying because she “did not want to be a snitch,” according to the report. She also reportedly told witnesses to the assault she was “about to get a free vacation.”

The girl was charged with third-degree assault and battery and released to the custody of her grandmother.
