A Rock Hill man charged with simple possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct is facing additional charges after spitting in the faces of two deputies, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Jonathan Paul Morgan, 25, of India Hook Road was charged with disorderly conduct, simple possession of marijuana and simple assault and battery. He was placed in the York County detention center, where he remained Monday under $5,800 bond.
Deputies responded to a home near Mount Gallant Road and India Hook Road about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after a caller reported that an intoxicated man jumped onto someone’s vehicle, according to a sheriff’s report. They found the suspect, Morgan, standing on the back porch of a home on India Hook Road.
Morgan, who smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated, gave deputies consent to search him, and they found a bag of marijuana in one of his pockets, deputies said. After being placed in a patrol car, he reportedly began kicking a window in an attempt to break it.

Morgan spit in the face of one deputy as she tried to calm him, the report states. He then spit in the face of one of two deputies who tried to assist in restraining him.
While en route to the jail, Morgan was able to partially free himself from the restraints and again start kicking the side window, deputies said. He continued kicking and banging his head on the window after being warned, and a deputy deployed her pepper spray. Morgan still continued banging his head on the window after further warnings, and was again sprayed.
