Masked gunman tried to rob woman at Rock Hill ATM, police say
Rock Hill Police are searching for a masked man who tried to rob a woman at gunpoint Monday while she was at an ATM.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. at the Founders Federal Credit Union on North Anderson Road, according to a police report. Officers met with the victim at a movie theater on Cherry Road. The victim told police the suspect was possibly a man who wore a ski mask on his face, presented a handgun and demanded money from her while she was at the bank’s ATM.
The victim said she sped away from the ATM, police said. K-9 units tracked the suspect to the 700 block of Huey Road, where investigators believe the suspect got into a vehicle because the dogs lost the scent trail.
A description of the suspect was not available. Police were processing surveillance footage from a power substation near the bank that may have captured the suspect as he fled.
The case remains under investigation, and police are pursuing leads.
