Suspect in Chester councilman death, alleged gang member, shot in Chester

Chester County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Robert Sprouse identified the victim of a Thursday morning shooting in Chester as Derrick Dixon, who was charged last year with accessory after the fact to murder in the shooting death of Chester City Councilman Odell Williams.

Dixon and four other alleged members of the Roundtree Circle gang were charged in connection to the shooting of Williams Nov. 4.

Police claim Dixon and four others were going to rob a rival gang when confronted by Williams. Dixon is alleged to have helped the shooter get away after Williams was killed.

Dixon has been out on bond since earlier this year. His bond required him to be at home during evening hours.

In the Thursday incident at least five teens were at a Center Road home when shots rang out and Dixon was hit with a bullet. No arrests have been made but police are investigating witness statements that the shots came from a nearby home on another adjacent street.

Dixon lives at the residence where the incident happened, Sprouse said. Dixon’s injuries are not life threatening, Sprouse said.
