The York County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who shot a Rock Hill man’s dog multiple times Tuesday.
The dog’s owner told deputies he and his wife left for work about 9 a.m. Tuesday, and that someone working at his home called and told him there was “something wrong” with his dog, according to a sheriff’s report. The owner went home, where he found his dog with three gunshot wounds.
A veterinarian examined the dog and confirmed he had been shot once in the mouth, once in the elbow of the right leg and once in the shoulder of the right leg, deputies said. The round that struck the dog in his shoulder lodged near the dog’s right lung.
It appeared the rounds that struck the dog were a small-caliber, deputies said. The owner said his dog has gotten out of the yard recently because another dog in the area is in heat, and that he locates and brings his dog home each time.
