20-year-old Lancaster woman killed and 2 injured in York County crash, troopers say
A Lancaster woman died Friday in a two-car collision near Rock Hill, officials said.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on South Anderson Road/U.S. 21 near Dot Faris Road in York County, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
A 2007 Honda sedan was traveling north on the highway and a 2003 Honda sedan was traveling south, Bolt said. The driver of the 2003 Honda, 20-year-old Vanessa Lee Smith, crossed the center of the road and the 2007 Honda hit Smith’s car in the side, Bolt said.
Smith, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said. The crash happened during a rainstorm, Gast said.
The driver and passenger of the 2007 Honda, who were not wearing seat belts, were taken to Piedmont Medical Center, Bolt said. Their conditions were unknown Sunday.
Autopsy and toxicology tests are pending, Gast said. The crash remains under investigation.
