Lancaster school guidance counselor charged with assault on student, deputies say
A guidance counselor at a Lancaster County school has been charged with assault on a student, deputies said.
Reginald Marshall Partee, 46, of Rock Hill, was charged with third-degree assault and battery after a confrontation with a student at South Middle School in the Lancaster County School District, said Doug Barfield, spokesman for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
The student is 12 years old, Barfield said.
On Jan. 28, the student ran from Partee after Partee gave instructions to the student to go to his assigned classroom, according to a written statement from the sheriff’s office. Partee then shoved the student while both were in the hallway and the student fell to the floor, the statement said.
“The student was not injured but there was contact,” Barfield said.
An investigation was done by school staff and the school resource officer who is a Lancaster County deputy, according to sheriff’s office officials.
“This was an unfortunate incident and our office investigated it fully,” Barfield said.
Deputies obtained an arrest warrant Jan. 31, officials said. Partee turned himself in on Saturday then was released on a personal recognizance bond.
