5 charged in Rock Hill for paintball shooting spree at apartments, cops say

Police charged five people Thursday after the group rode through an apartment complex shooting paintballs, police said.

Four male adults, each 18 years old, and one male juvenile, 17, were arrested after vehicles were damaged, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.

The suspects were charged with damage to property and disorderly conduct, according to police. All the charges are misdemeanors, according to police records.

There were no injuries, Chavis said.

Officers were called to the Windsor Apartments near Dave Lyle Boulevard around 9 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired in the area, according to a police incident report.

One caller told police about suspects firing weapons while leaning out of car windows, the police report stated. At the scene, officers discovered the incident involved only paintballs, police said.

The suspects told officers they were in a paintball battle with another group they had communicated with through the online social media app Snapchat, police said.

Police found eight vehicles damaged by the paintballs, according to the police incident report.

Officers seized paintball guns, according to the report.
