York County man driving 90 mph shot at another driver in I-77 road rage, deputies say

A York County man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder after shooting at another driver during a road rage incident on Interstate 77, deputies said.

Emmanuel Traveon Richardson, 25, of Catawba, was charged Sunday with shooting at the victim while driving a stolen car, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was not hit by the gunfire, Faris said.

Richardson is charged with attempted murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, shooting into an occupied motor vehicle, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and malicious damage to property, according to police and jail records.

Deputies who responded found a bullet inside the bumper of the victim’s car, a sheriff’s office incident report showed. The victim told deputies he tried to evade the suspect at speeds reaching 90 mph before his vehicle was shot, according to the report.

Officers found Richardson and the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident’ at a home in Catawba, according to the incident report.

The vehicle, a Dodge Charger, had been reported stolen in Georgia, deputies said.

Officers seized two loaded guns inside the home where Richardson was arrested, the report stated.

Attempted murder carries a sentence of up to 30 years in prison for a conviction in South Carolina, state law shows.

Richardson is being held at the York County jail without bond after he was denied bail in an initial court hearing late Sunday.
