2 men killed within the same hour in separate Charlotte homicides, police say
Two adult males were killed less an hour apart Saturday night in separate Charlotte homicides, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
One man was stabbed and later died at the hospital in what CMPD detectives say was a “domestic incident.” Police identified the man as 64-year-old Hector Cruz. On Sunday, CMPD officials said in a news release officers have charged Daniel Pereyra-Nandayapa, 37, with murder.
Cruz was stabbed near the 8800 block of Mont Carmel Lane around 8:20 p.m., according to a news release from CMPD. That’s in the Montclaire South neighborhood in CMPD’s Steele Creek Division.
Less than an hour later, officers responded to a deadly shooting near the 2200 block of Irma Street, in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood in northwest Charlotte, according to a news release from CMPD. On Sunday, police identified the shooting victim as 37-year-old Mario Racheim Reynolds. No arrests have been made. Reynolds died at the hospital.
Both investigations are ongoing and anyone with information about either incident is asked to call CMPD homicide detectives at 704-432-8477 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
