Woman shot in Chester near sheriff’s office as officials seek suspect

A woman was shot in Chester Friday afternoon near the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, officials said.

The woman’s identity and condition have not been released. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, emergency officials said.

The shooting happened before 5 p.m. at the Chester Heights II apartments, just east of the sheriff’s office on Dawson Drive, deputies said.

The apartments are in the city limits of Chester. The Chester Police Department, with assistance from the sheriff’s office, is investigating the shooting, deputies said.

Police from both agencies said officers are searching for a suspect in the shooting.
