Large trailer almost filled with donations stolen from Rock Hill charity.
A Rock Hill charity that helps nearly two dozen charities in the region is asking for help finding a large trailer that was stolen over the weekend.
Tender Hearts Ministries had a new six-foot trailer attached to a large tree limb on its property over the weekend, said Ainslee Moss, director and founder of the ministry.
When she arrived at work Monday morning, the white trailer had been stolen. She said she believes the thieves took the trailer between Saturday and early Monday morning.
“We used a chain that you cannot cut,” Moss said. Instead, the thieves cut down the tree limb.
“It’s a huge limb,” Moss said.
Rock Hill Police Department Lt. Michael Chavis said Tender Hearts officials told officers the trailer was reported stolen Monday from the charity’s Anderson Road location. The trailer is valued at more than $5,000, Chavis said.
Detectives have been assigned the case and are investigating, Chavis said.
A surveillance camera from a next-door business shows a white pickup truck hauling the trailer.
The ministry bought the trailer several weeks ago to handle an influx of donations during the COVID-19 quarantine, she said.
“A lot of people are donating” said Moss, who believes the extra donations are due to people cleaning out during their time at home.
Moss said the new trailer — their second largest among four other trailers — was about 75 percent full of donations.
“I am upset, but praying they return it and have a heart for the community needs,” Moss said in a Facebook plea.
Tender Hearts Ministries owns three stores in Rock Hill, York and Clover. The ministry helps more than 20 organizations, Moss said.
Moss is asking anyone with information about the missing trailer to contact the Rock Hill Police Department.
