‘Teamwork’: York County deputies help Rock Hill police nab armed robbery suspect

Quick action by York County deputies helped Rock Hill police catch a convenience store robbery suspect.

Tyreck Emmanuel Green, 25, was charged with armed robbery of a 7-11 store after York County Sheriff’s Office deputies near the store captured him, police said.

The 7-11 store on Cherry Road in Rock Hill, across from Cherry Park, was robbed around 3:20 a.m. Saturday, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.

The suspect held a cellphone to the clerk’s head but made threats of having a weapon, Chavis said. He repeatedly told the store clerk, “Don’t make me use a weapon on you,” Chavis said.

He took cash and two packs of Newport cigarettes before fleeing and being caught by deputies.

“The teamwork was outstanding,” Chavis said.

Store video surveillance confirmed Green was the robbery suspect, Chavis said.

Trent Faris, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said both agencies work together often.

“Rock Hill police would do the same for us, and have done the same for us,” Faris said. “This was real teamwork. Our people were close by and assisted.”

Green remains in the York County jail under a $100,000 bond, court records show.
