Clover man charged with possessing, sharing child porn videos, pictures on internet

A Clover man has been charged with possessing and sharing child porn videos and pictures on the internet.

Marvin Gene Pieffer II, 50, was arrested Tuesday morning, according to York County Sheriff’s Office jail and arrest records. He is charged with three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of minors for allegedly sharing child porn video, according to arrest warrants obtained by The Herald.

He also faces 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of minors charges for possession of child porn pictures, arrest warrants state.

The children depicted in the videos and photos are as young as 7 years old, according to the warrants.

Pieffer shared and distributed video child pornography using the Bit Torrent file sharing network, the arrest warrants state.

Pieffer is accused of having additional photos of child porn on an external hard drive that was seized by sheriff’s deputies during the investigation, according to the warrants.

The investigation done by the cyber crimes division at the sheriff’s office is part of the S.C. Attorney General Internet Crimes Against Children Task force. The attorney general’s office coordinates investigation and prosecution of Internet crimes involving child victims.

Pieffer faces as much as 130 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Under South Carolina law, all child sexual exploitation charges carry up to 10 years in prison for each conviction. Each second-degree charge carries a mandatory two years to 10 years in prison for a conviction, South Carolina law states. Third- degree exploitation carries a sentence of up to 10 years, but has no minimum sentence, state law shows.

Pieffer remains in the York County jail pending a bond hearing.
