Burglar used drive-thru window to get at safe in Lake Wylie doughnut store, cops say
A suspect used the drive-thru window at a Lake Wylie doughnut store Sunday to get inside and open the safe, officials said.
Deputies responded to the Dunkin’ Donuts store on S.C. 49 around 5 a.m. when employees arrived for work, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.
A suspect had climbed through the drive-thru and targeted the store safe, Faris said. The suspect is believed to have left the store through a back exit, Faris said.
Patrol units, forensics, and crime scene technicians responded.
Deputies have surveillance video from the incident but no arrests have been made, Faris said. Investigators also are seeking video from nearby businesses, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
Area Lake Wylie businesses were among five fast-food restaurants targeted earlier this summer in York County by an armed robber who was later arrested and remains in jail, officials said.
