Mom stabbed to death in east Charlotte. Her son was charged with murder, CMPD says

A man has been charged with murdering his mother, who was killed in a stabbing Sunday morning in east Charlotte, police said.

Late Sunday, police identified the victim as 64-year-old Sow Mue.

The incident happened on Tyrone Drive, near Shannon Park, just after 4 a.m., according to a news release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. At the scene, officers found a woman with life-threatening injuries from a blade. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died, the release said.

Police arrested 24-year-old Sow Te Roh Sunday and charged him with murder, the release said. Police later confirmed the victim is Roh’s mother.

This was the city’s 80th homicide of the year and the second homicide in 24 hours. At this time last year, Charlotte had 68 homicides, according to police.
