School bus near Rock Hill shot with BB gun; York County Sheriff deputies investigating

York County deputies are investigating after a school bus was shot at with a BB gun, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The bus driver and a student were on the bus when the incident happened Tuesday, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Ragin Lane outside the Rock Hill city limits, Faris said.

According to Faris, the investigation showed a window on the bus was damaged. Deputies are investigating but no one had been charged as of Wednesday morning, Faris said.

Deputies and Rock Hill Police Department officers who work with a team assigned to school resource officers responded to the scene, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

Crime scene forensic technicians processed the bus, according to the report. A K-9 unit and patrol officers searched the area and deputies and Rock Hill police interviewed witnesses, the report stated.

Efforts to reach officials with the Rock Hill school district about the incident were unsuccessful.
